Sharon Bolles, Licensed Professional Counselor, Board President
Sharon is a co-founder of the Community Counseling Center of Ashland, along with her husband, Nando Raynolds, Maria Connolly, and Laura Heesacker. While receiving her master’s at John F. Kennedy University, she specialized in child and family counseling. Her post-graduate training has included Hakomi Therapy, Neurolinguistic Programming, Hypnotherapy, as well as extensive training in Couples’ Counseling and Non-Violent Communication. In private practice in Talent for almost 30 years, Sharon also has supervised graduate students at Southern Oregon University as an adjunct faculty member since 1993 and supervises registered interns in private practice. She also supervises peers who are becoming state-approved supervisors themselves. In addition to co-founding the CCC of Ashland, Sharon co-founded the children’s discovery museum in Medford with her longtime friend, Gerry Sea. Sharon and her husband moved to the Rogue Valley in 1988 and bought a five acre farm in Talent, where they have raised two great children, and numerous goats, sheep, and chickens.
Jennifer Henderson, Licensed Professional Counselor, Board Treasurer
Jennifer is credentialed to provide supervision to other LPC's and eligible interns. She specializes in trauma informed interventions that can be delivered in brief format within integrated settings. Jennifer is trained in evidence based models including Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Parent Child Interaction Therapy, Collaborative Problem Solving and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She values patient centered care and uses adaptive intentional interventions, guided by Feedback Informed Treatment through the International Center for Clinical Excellence. Jennifer has worked with a number of systems that impact client functioning including Educational, Correctional and Child welfare. She has a strong belief in experiential interventions that help increase implicit learning of skills and emotional regulation. These include modalities such as Sandplay, Equine-Animal Assisted, Art, Play and Music which allow for a deep and rich processing of patients who struggle with verbalization. Jennifer has served predominately youth ages 3 to 24 who present with transdiagnositc symptomology. Jennifer has worked in roles as development director for a non-profit, an outpatient counselor, a clinical supervisor, an outpatient program manager, private practice and a behavioral health consultant. These various settings have allowed her to have a comprehensive view and direct experience with counselor professional development.
Kaijah Bjorklund, Licensed Professional Counselor, Board Member
Kaijah is a licensed professional counselor who began working in the mental health field as a therapeutic wilderness instructor in 1996. She has worked in the holistic health field since 2000 and has combined both of these passions with her counseling work. Kaijah uses body-centered practices in counseling work. She draws from the relevant neuroscientific research that is emerging within the field of psychology that provides a deeper understanding of behaviors and experiences. Kaijah has a Masters degree in clinical mental health counseling from Prescott College, where she completed her masters thesis on trauma treatment and PTSD, an area of specialty. EMDR and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy are modalities she uses frequently in her private practice working with adults. To read more about Kaijah go to www.centerofbalancecounseling.com. Kaijah began her work with the CCC as a graduate student in 2014 and completed her training and supervision there. She continues to support the mission of the CCC to provide low cost counseling by serving on the board.
Gretchen Ericson, Licensed Professional Counselor, Board Member
Gretchen is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has been working in the field of mental health and addictions for 14 years and specializes in working with individuals who have been impacted by trauma. She utilizes a strengths-based, eclectic approach to therapy and frequently draws from Attachment, Systems and Psychodynamic theories. She is trained in several evidence-based treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Gretchen has also completed advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and has additional training in Attachment-Focused EMDR. She frequently uses EMDR in therapy to assist her clients in resolving trauma or self-limiting beliefs.
Annie Funkhouser, Licensed Professional Counselor, Board Member
Annie, after a full life of varying careers, graduated from the Applied Psychology, Counseling program at SOU in 2009. She has experience and training in a wide range of issues including trauma, PTSD, grief and loss, Borderline Personality Disorder and gender transition support. She is trained in DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). She has also studied Chinese Medicine, Herbalism and Tai Chi and incorporates mindfulness, spirituality and other modalities in her work. Her experience includes individual and group counseling of adults. In addition, she has previous experience as a case worker in criminal justice settings, a domestic violence shelter, in hospice care, teen mentoring and as therapist at Jackson County Mental Health. She is currently affiliated with DBT of Southern Oregon and is working in private practice in Ashland.
